The new SAM High School Motocross season has started and this first night was very successful. Racing Director Jim Manning gets the credit for putting this program together and this evening juflt over 160 Scholastic 'Crossers filled the OCIR pits.

This is the biggest single racing program ever at this track and statistics have proven that a very good percentage of the attending racers here this evening will only race in this event. High School Motocross is probably the best thing that has happened to the sport in SoCal land special thanks to a few companies in the industry for their support such as DG Performance Specialties, J&R Pipes and Uni Filters.

There were 13 classes on the line-up. One of the very competitive classes was the second division of the 125 Juniors. The first moto was won by Gardena High star Alan Tomata, but the rest of the motos weren't too good for him so he finished sixth overall. The real winner of the contest overall was B&M racer Ladell Eide who totaled up a 3-1-1 score. Ladell had an excellent scoring, but his competition allowed him no slack at all. The third and final moto of this class was really exciting as Mark Allen (Suz), of Edison, led the laps and then found himself dragging down the finish stretch with Eide. Ladell Eide's machine got him right with the wave of the flag for the win overall while Allen took second. So the second division of the 125 Junior class was won by Ladell Eide, of Gahr, while Team Junk racer Joe Crozer of Rancho won second with a fine 2-2-3 placing and Mark Allen scored 6-4-2 for the third place trophy.
